Letters to Layla

Dear Layla,

Happy half birthday!  I am truly in disbelief that you are already 6 months old.  In some ways it feels like just yesterday I saw your sweet face for the first time and yet I feel like I've known you my whole life.  You no longer seem like an infant to me, but a laughing, smiling, cooing, army-crawling baby.

You have really developed your personality this month.  You are a silly girl that loves to laugh.  Right now you find popping bubbles, being upside down, tickles on your neck, piggy back rides from Daddy and Cash particularly funny.  You love to drink out of your sippy cup and will laugh and laugh at how cold water feels in your mouth.  You are also very strong willed and will lunge out of our arms at whatever or whoever you have your eye on.  If you want something, you work hard to get it.

Developmentally you are doing great!  We go to the Dr tomorrow, but I guess you are around 21 pounds.  You seem to have grown much taller to me this month, maybe 28 inches now?  You can totally sit on your own and we can leave you sitting on the carpet with your toys and you are content to play by yourself for a few minutes.  You have been sleeping 12 hours (7 pm-7am) for about a month and it is wonderful!  You are a great eater and right now your favorite foods are avocado and banana.  You are not very fond of green beans or carrots.  You are teething very hard right now and it is causing you some discomfort.  Everything you can touch goes straight into the mouth and you have a steady stream of drool.

You are my very best friend and I love spending every day with you.  These past 6 months have been so amazing and I can only imagine how wonderful the next half a year will be with you.

Love,

Momma

  1. I love how she is holding the giraffe in the crook of her arm as she inspects the sticker and tries to eat it! I think her eyelashes have grown this month as well! Hope those teeth pop through soon!!!
