Happy first birthday to our sweet baby Layla! Yesterday we celebrated her birthday with a party with 10 of her best baby friends and about 35 adults. It was a packed house! Layla had a wonderful time and was showered with love and presents! Today we had a family fun day at
Frying Pan Park, a working farm with lots of animals, wagon rides, a carousel and playground. A litter of baby sheep were born at 5:00 am this morning, so Layla got to see some baby animals that share her birthday. We also saw a few litters of baby piglets that reminded us of Cash as baby. She had a wonderful time and loved the animals! She kept saying "woof woof" at the sheep and horses. After a little nap we took a family walk to the park with Cash and then went out to dinner at her favorite restaurant, California Tortilla. It's nothing fancy, but for whatever reason the minute we walk in the door there she is always all smiles. As soon as we put her in her high chair today she started to dance! She had a wonderful birthday weekend! We feel so blessed to have the honor of being her parents for the past year.
I'll post lots and lots of pictures from her party later. Tomorrow we go to the Dr for her 1 year well baby visit and I'll do her 12 month update after that.
Here are some photos of how we spent her first birthday.
Looking at the baby sheep that share her birthday
I made her a sugar free cake sweetened only with applesauce, banana and agave nectar. She loved it!
Licking the frosting off her tray.
Layla didn't want to wear her hat, but Cashy did!
New toys!
We kept her up until 7:41 pm, the exact time she came into this world. I felt very emotional when the clock struck 7:41. Mike and I covered her in kisses for the whole minute!
Happy Birthday Layla!
ReplyDeleteWhat was the recipe that you made for the cake? I'm pretty good at eating organic and as sugar free as I can, but haven't found a good cake recipe yet!
Hey Erin,
ReplyDeleteIt turned out pretty good! More like a banana bread than a cake, but still really yummy. The recipe calls for honey, but I swapped Agave Nectar for it. I just made a little cream cheese frosting for it. Scroll down its the second recipe.
