MOPS

Today was a big day for me and Layla.  We had our first MOPS meeting today.  For those that don't know, MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers (http://www.mops.org/).  Our MOPS program is out of a local church.  We meet every other Friday during the school year for two hours.  The Moms have breakfast, fellowship and a speaker on Mom related issues while the kids are in a classroom.  The reason this is a big deal is because this is the first time I have ever left Layla in the care of someone besides Mike or my parents.  Ever.  She's a year and a half people, it was time.  She has some separation anxiety and I joined hoping we could work on some of those issues.  I'm proud to say Layla did great!  Her teacher said she cried a little when I dropped her off and towards the end, but for the most part was so good.  She lasted the entire 2 hours.  This may not seem like a big deal, but if you know Layla, you know it is.  She sometimes freaks out when I walk out of a room.  Every time the director of childcare came into the meeting room to grab a mother of a child that was melting down I kept thinking it would be for Layla and it never way! Afterward when we got home and I was feeding her lunch she would take a bite, look at me and say "hug?" and then give me the biggest longest hug.  Then take another bite and ask for another hug.  It was so sweet.

I don't have any pics of her in her classroom, but here she is at home after happy as can be.  Proof that two hours away from Momma didn't traumatize her.
