Let me tell you a little story about a two year old named Layla and her cow costume. It started innocently enough a few months ago while we were playing dress up with her Cinderella costume. "Do you want to be Cinderella for Halloween this year?" I asked her. "No, I want to be a cow!" She insisted. Every time Halloween came up Layla insisted she must be a cow. So being the good Mother that I am, I drove all over Ashburn until I could find the prized Cow costume.
"Wow! So special!" She squealed when I pulled it out of the bag. Mike cut off every single tag on the costume because he knows our girl hates anything remotely close to a tag, also rendering the costume un-returnable. But why would we need to return a costume she so desperately begged for?
Then it came time to wear it. Cue the two year old melt down. "Noooo," she wailed. "I don't like cows." We told her the only way she could trick or treat was if she wore her costume. "No, I don't want to trick or treat. I don't like candy." Normally I would be proud of her for
saying she doesn't like candy, but you know how much I love a good photo op. especially of my kids in costume.
I reluctantly gave in, Layla didn't have to wear her cow costume. For her play group party she did agree to wear her skeleton pjs. Last night as we were getting ready to trick or treat she asked to wear he bee costume from last year. It fit, but I wasn't properly prepared with the right accessories. She had a great time and ive trained her so well. A few houses in she said "I have enough candy, lets go look at the decorations." So that's exactly what we did. Walked and looked at all the decorated houses.
Here are some pics of our non-cow Layla.
