A Father is a very special thing to a little girl. Me and my little girl are lucky to have pretty amazing Dads.
I have a Dad who...
Changed the oil in my car whenever I came home from college so I didn't have to think about it.
Brought me a snack when he picked me up from Field Hockey practice because he knew I would be too hungry to wait till we got home.
Pulled me into the pool when I was too scared to dive in on my own.
Tends to my garden, my lawn, hangs chandeliers and anything else that needs to be done around my house.
Loves my Cashy like he is his own, even though he wasn't always too sure about dogs.
Never batted an eye when I was planning my wedding and wanted to spend money on things like uplighting (well maybe he batted an eye, but he still elt me do it!)
Saves toys and crafts that he thinks Layla will want to play with in 2, 5, 10 years.
Has loved me and supported me for 28 years and now does the same for Mike, Layla and Cash
Layla has a Dad who...
Does little dances for her just to get a laugh.
Sings her Elvis as lullabies.
Pretends to be the "Loudoun County Boogey Man" because it makes her smile.
Wakes up in the middle of the night to make sure she is ok when she has been sleeping for a while.
Works hard to support his family and make sure we all have what we need.
Marches her around the house for hours because the rhythm of his steps keeps her calm.
Comes to her Drs apts with me because he knows I have a hard time when she get shots.
Is Cash's best friend. Is my best friend. Will one day be her best friend.
Loves her more than she will ever imagine.
So Happy Fathers Day to the 2 best Dads I know!
And special Fathers Day shout out to my Father In Law Ray- I know Michael is the wonderful Dad he is because he had you as an example.

ReplyDeleteHey Elizabeth-
ReplyDeleteYour blog popped up on my news feed in facebook! Fantastic. I can't believe how big Layla has gotten. And I can't agree more with the comment above about how your comments are so heartfelt and thoughtful.
