Dear Layla,
Happy 11 month birthday! The other day I saw a commercial for baby detergent and it said "because they'll always be your child, but they're only your baby for a year." It was like they came out of the tv, reached right into my chest and gave my heart a tight squeeze. This is your last month of babyhood. And everyday you seem less like a baby and more like a big girl.
You are so active and curious. Every day you find something new to explore and I love watching your little brain work as you figure out the world around you. One of your favorite activities to take things out and put them back. The other day at the grocery store you had the best time helping me take items out of the cart and put them on the register. You can stack blocks and cups and knock them over. We can hid a small object under a cup and you will come find where it is. You love to play peek a boo and will hid behind the curtains and lift it over your head and giggle at us. You absolutely love books. You probably hand me books to read at least 20 times a day if not more. Your favorite books are Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Pat the Bunny. We usually read each of these 5 times in a row. You also imitate everything we do. From the intonations in our voice, to trying to help me clean and cook. You are like a sponge, soaking up everything we do.
You can stand on your own for a while and will occasionally take a few steps. You can cruise around the house holding on to furniture or walls quite well. You are such an adept and speedy crawler that you tend to move around that way over trying to slowly walk. Not only can you climb up stairs, but you have also figured out how to climb down on your own.
You are even more into Cash then ever. You like to climb all over him, pet him, kiss him and most of all, feed him. Nothing makes you laugh harder then looking down your highchair and seeing his face waiting for you to drop your food. You've developed a little game where you pretend like you are going to give him a bite, and just as he opens his mouth you eat it instead. And then laugh. Already a teaser like your Daddy!
Your favorite foods right now are hummus, broccoli and bananas. You like to dance, especially to Rhianna and Beyonce. You clap your hands anytime you are proud of yourself, or happy or excited.
Life with you is so much fun! We spend every day happy, laughing and exploring!
Now let's soak up every last minute we have left of babyhood!
